More than 220 experts attended the central symposium for cooperative intelligent transportation systems and services.

Connected driving is increasingly becoming a reality in many cities. C-ITS forms a basis for the digitalization of transport infrastructure and thus contributes to safe and sustainable mobility. There is still a great need for information, consulting and exchange in order to promote its widespread introduction.

At the end of February, more than 220 experts in connected driving from research, business and administrative staff, from authorities and associations met at the C-ITS Forum in Frankfurt. The leading symposium for cooperative intelligent transportation systems and services is a platform for discussing the potential of C-ITS services, the path to a harmonized rollout, and challenges and solutions from practice at the highest professional level. Participants gained practical insights from the experience reports of numerous partners as well as cities and regions in which C-ITS has already become an integral part of mobility management.

Dr. Thomas Otto, head of the Cooperative Systems group at Fraunhofer IVI, moderated the topic “C-ITS for prioritizing emergency vehicles and public transport” in the session “Challenges and solutions from practice”, and provided insights into current research results in his presentation on the topic “FGSV – Recommendations on the C-ITS technology shift at traffic signals”.

The C-ITS Forum was organized by Fraunhofer IVI in collaboration with the German federal government's Die Autobahn GmbH, ITS mobility, OCA - Open Traffic Systems City Association e. V., the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) and the Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main (VGF).
