The VDE E-MOBILITY CONFERENCE 2026 is the leading event for decision-makers, developers, and strategy leaders across the entire electric mobility value chain. The conference focuses on current technological developments, regulatory frameworks, and market-relevant innovations in the areas of charging infrastructure, electric vehicles, energy system integration, and digitalization.

Fraunhofer IVI will be participating in the conference with two technical presentations and as an exhibitor, showcasing solutions for the electrification of vehicle fleets.

From October 8 to 10, 2026, the expert community on firefighting, civil protection, and disaster management gathered in Dresden for the 25th time. Fraunhofer IVI presented their MobiKat^® technology— a modular system for incident command and the management of the resources required.

At the largest trade show for commercial vehicles, alternative powertrains, and municipal technology in North Rhine-Westphalia, we are showcasing our solutions for fleet electrification.

We will be demonstrating a fully automated charging system that recharges electric commercial vehicles without the need for manual plugging. The Underbody Charging System requires no additional space for charging infrastructure at the charging point and does not use exposed cables. As a result, it offers no targets for cable theft or vandalism.

The technology enables charging capacities in the megawatt range and is ideal for efficient use in logistics centers and depots.

As one of the exhibitor at the ITF Summit Expo, Fraunhofer IVI will be showcasing a demonstrator of the Underbody Charging System and other solutions for vehicle fleet electrification.

Autonomous driving in the commercial vehicle sector is no longer a vision of the future – pilot projects, near-series developments, and initial commercial applications show that change has already begun.

At the 9th International VDI Conference - Autonomous Trucks, experts will discuss current technological, regulatory, and operational developments related to autonomous trucks.

As an exhibitor, Fraunhofer IVI will showcase a demonstrator of the Underbody Charging System and other solutions for fleet electrification.

On April 29, Dr. Felix Keppler will give a presentation titled "Controlling the Uncontrollable – Perception and Control for Unequipped Semitrailers in Automated Terminals and Yards," in which he will discuss innovative technologies and fields of application for the automated handling of semi-trailers.

At this year's Hannover Messe, Fraunhofer IVI will showcase cutting-edge technologies for the logistics of tomorrow. Together with Götting KG, we will be presenting innovative solutions for teleoperation in the outdoor exhibition area.

Under the title "Connected. Secure. Harmonised.", ITS mobility, in cooperation with Autobahn GmbH des Bundes, Fraunhofer IVI, OCA – Open Traffic Systems City Association e.V., the Association of Engineering Consultancies for Traffic Engineering (VIV), the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV), and Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main (VGF), will host the C-ITS Forum for the third time in 2026.

The aim of the event is to bring together key German stakeholders and decision-makers from politics and science, as well as infrastructure operators and public transport companies, in order to jointly advance the deployment of C-ITS.

How can vehicle and infrastructure sensors work together to generate a reliable situational picture and thus make automated driving safer? We spent three years conducting intensive research into this question as part of the VALISENS project. Our goal: to prevent accidents involving vulnerable road users and strengthen confidence in autonomous systems.

Together with VALISENS partners XITASO, LiangDao, NXP Semiconductors, and smartmicro, the results were presented to the professional public and partners at the project's closing event.
