Prof. Dr. Zug and Prof. Dr. Pfleging of TU Bergakademie Freiberg paid a visit to Fraunhofer IVI.

To explore current research activities and options for collaboration, representatives of TU Bergakademie Freiberg visited the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI in Dresden. Together with Prof. Dr. Sebastian Zug, Chair of Software Enigineering and Robotics, and Prof. Dr. Bastian Pfleging, Chair of Ubiquitous Computing and Smart Systems, Fraunhofer IVI scholars discussed new project ideas in reaserch and education.

Topics such as robotics and swarm technologies, augmented and virtual reality, human-machine interaction, autonomous driving and communications between traffic participants and infrastructure were key topics of the meeting. These research areas offer various interfaces between the two institutions – from basic resaerch to practical applications in the field of mobility.

The visit made clear how much the respective competencies of Fraunhofer IVI and TUBAF complement each other and uncovered the great potential of cooperating more closely – especially regarding students who can be integrated at in joint projects an early stage via internships and final theses.

We would like to extend our gratitude to our guests for the exciting exchange and are looking forward to future joint work.
