European Road Safety Charter

Working Together for Safer Roads in Europe

The European Road Safety Charter (ERSC) is an initiative of the European Commission and, with more than 4,000 members, it is the largest civil society platform for road safety in Europe. Its shared goal is to implement Vision Zero: To reduce the number of traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 50 percent by 2030 and bring them down to zero by 2050.

Since 2023, Fraunhofer IVI has served as the National Ambassador for Germany under the European Road Safety Charter. In this role, we act as the central point of contact for the Charter’s German members. We promote the exchange of experiences and best practices, foster dialogue among German members, the National Ambassadors of other EU member states, and the EU Commission, and support interested organizations in their efforts to become members.

Your membership helps save lives!

The European Road Safety Charter is aimed at companies, associations, local governments, research institutions, universities, and schools that wish to actively promote road safety. Membership is free and offers the opportunity to raise awareness of initiatives and projects across Europe, network with other stakeholders, and contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experience.

On our LinkedIn page, “ERSC@Fraunhofer IVI,” we provide information about the activities of the European Road Safety Charter, news from the German network, and current developments and findings in the field of road safety.
